The Plantation Original Dark Rum is one of the first rums in the range and comes from Barbados. It is a premium blend that shines in its bottle in an elegant, reddish-pale gold colour. Like its relatives, Plantation Original Dark Rum also benefits from the fact that it first rests in former American bourbon barrels in its country of origin. It is then shipped to France, where it matures for several months in small cognac barrels in the vaulted cellars of Cognac Ferrand. This process was frequently used in the 18th and 19th centuries, but is now rare. It gives the dark blended rum the finishing touch.
